This candidate is an accomplished QBE Financial Controller with over 20 years’ experience in the marketing, events and recruitment industries. He is adept at leading and managing end-to-end financial processes and department in a growing business. He prides himself on being diligent with great attention to detail. Self-directed with effective ability to prioritise, while remaining task-focused. He is able to adapt quickly to working in new environments and keen to secure a permanent position in which he can make an impact and remain for the long term. Key skills include:

  • Management Accounts - reconciling all bank accounts, preparing and posting accruals, prepayments, cash / costs in advance & deferred income / costs, including all payroll bonuses etc.  Review and post depreciation journals and reconcile Fixed Asset Register. Create Management Accounts, mirroring data from the Finance System and check Balance Sheet and P&L for anomalies and report to Directors.
  • Creating P&Ls for individual events that sit alongside the overall P&L. Monthly quarterly and year-end reporting, minimising work for the external Accountants.
  • Quarterly management reporting on overhead and administrative costs for the business, assessing costs and reporting on areas of increased costs and overspend 
  • Budgeting - setting annual budget for spend in each business area, regular review with department heads
  • Month End – Planning & finalising all month-end procedures: Reconciling accounts; making journal entries; preparing reports and ensuring everything balances for accurate financial reporting 
  • Payroll – Calculating and processing employee salaries, taxes, benefits and deductions, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and accurately issuing payslips 
  • VAT / Foreign VAT Returns 
  • Sales Ledger Management including cash collection and allocation, invoicing and account reconciliation 
  • Purchase Ledger Management 
  • Staff Mentoring and Development - management of up to two staff members
  • Effective collaboration with business stakeholders outside of finance, including Head of IT, external project management consultant, software consultants
  • System and process implementation/streamlining
  • Systems: Xero, Sage50 Accounts, Sage Payroll, Salesforce, MS Office, QuickBooks, BullHorn
