SCHOOL TECHNICIAN JOBS FAQs

School technicians play the vital role of ensuring that students and teachers have access to a safe and effective learning environment. In addition to maintaining equipment and experiments, school technicians may also play an active role during lessons. Other specific duties will depend on the lesson environment you are supporting, such as science or DT.

For more senior school technician positions, you may be responsible for the sourcing of resources, budget allocation, staff training and the design of risk assessments.

The qualification requirements for a school technician will depend on the subject you are supporting, whether that be science, DT, IT, art, reprographies, or food.

While most school technician positions are not required to have a degree, having one in a technical subject – such as chemistry or material science – could greatly improve your prospects.

As with any job that involves working with children, you will need to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Our consultants can help you gain a DBS check quickly and effectively.
