Salaries across accountancy and finance have risen over the last year, particularly for many in-demand qualified finance roles.
A newly qualified accountancy professional working in London could expect to earn over £55,000 a year, with this rising to £85,000 after a few years' experience.
On the executive end, financial directors working for prominent organisaitons can command £200,000 per annum, while top Group FDs or CFOs can see up to £500,000 in some instances.
It’s hard to describe in detail the types of roles open to you as a newly qualified accountant as there are so many. Give consideration to what elements of finance you enjoy as you may have a preference for financial control, analysis, reporting, finance business partnering and/or audit.

Your choices include working in professional services in an accounting or consulting firm, considering whether you will enjoy private sector in an SME, or large corporate business – and of course a wide range of choice within the not-for-profit and public sectors.
If you’re considering the private sector this will include a multitude of industries including financial services, retail, manufacturing, FMCG and hospitality to name but a few. Within the public sector and not-for-profit you can build a career path in local and central government, NHS, housing and the charitable sector as a few examples.
