End Youth Homelessness (EYH)
Charity partnership

We are proud to partner with homeless charity End Youth Homelessness (EYH) for the year 2019-2020.

About End Youth Homelessness

End Youth Homelessness is a UK-wide network of 11 member charities that have joined forces to tackle youth homelessness together. EYH charities help more than 30,000 young people a year by providing a home, helping them secure jobs and start independent futures.

About our partnership

With 93 offices in the UK, our employees are supporting EYH charities across the country including Centrepoint in London, Manchester and Yorkshire, The Rock Trust in Scotland and Step by Step in the South of England.

The money we raise goes directly to EYH’s Employability Fund, which provides homeless young people with individually-tailored support to work towards their career goals, whatever their previous education or work experience. By the end of our partnership we will have helped 80 young people into employment, education and training pathways.

In addition to supporting EYH’s Employability Fund, we will host work placements and industry experience days. We will also be taking part in EYH’s Employer Forums, which will bring together national employers with youth homelessness employment practitioners to work towards providing more and better opportunities for homeless young people.

Simon Winfield, Managing Director of Hays UK & Ireland, comments: “We are very proud to announce our partnership with EYH to help tackle the devastating issue of youth homelessness. Over the next twelve months I’m looking forward to seeing our employees across the UK come up with lots of creative fundraising ideas, as well as using our expertise where we can to help deliver employability and skills sessions to young people. Combined with our #HaysHelps initiative, our charity work allows us to make a difference and have a real impact on our local community.”

Quote from Nick Connolly, Founder and Managing Director, End Youth Homelessness:

“As the founder of End Youth Homelessness, I am incredibly excited about our new partnership with Hays. Our vision is to end youth homelessness, but we know this is only possible if individual young people have the aspiration, skills, and confidence necessary to secure and retain employment. Over the next 12 months, we will be working in partnership to give at least 80 young people the chance to succeed.”

Why homelessness?

Last year in the UK, 103,000 young people asked their local authority for help because they were either homeless or at serious risk of becoming homeless. It is a pressing issue affecting individuals and families across the UK, and much of it goes unnoticed.

Previous charity partners

Our most recent charity partner was Action for Children, who support vulnerable children and young people in the UK. We raised over £232,000 across the course of our two-year partnership which has gone directly towards an employability programme for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We supported three cohorts of young people throughout our partnership and throughout 2019-2020 will support a further four groups.

Quote from Julie Bentley, Chief Executive at Action for Children:“On behalf of all the team at Action for Children, I would like to thank everyone at Hays for making our two-year partnership such an outstanding success. We are incredibly grateful to all Hays colleagues for their engagement and fundraising efforts throughout our partnership. With Hays’ generous support, Action for Children has been able to deliver three employability programmes, with four more to come, that will transform the future life chances for some of the most disadvantaged young people in the UK by helping them to access, and maintain, training and employment opportunities.”

Across the UK, we have successfully run Charity of the Year partnerships for over 10 years and previously worked with a variety of charities including Marie Curie, NSPCC, Alzheimer’s Society, The Brain Tumour Charity and Together for Short Lives.
