Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistants at South Staffordshire School

Grade 5 (Level 3) Teaching Assistant – General (Special School),
Monday to Friday, Term Time, 30.25 hours per week
Salary: FTE (£23,893 - £25,119)
Actual: (£16,876 - £17,743)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs (SEND)? We are working with a forward-thinking Secondary Special School located on the Wolverhampton/South Staffordshire border, who are seeking dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join their vibrant team.

Roles Available:

  • Permanent Positions: Due to the schools continuing expansion, the school are seeking to appoint a number of excellent and highly motivated SEND Teachers.
  • Location: Situated near Perton in South Staffordshire, the school provides a supportive and inclusive environment for students with SEN. Easily commutable from Wolverhampton, Shropshire and Cannock/surrounding areas.
  • School: A secondary special school supporting students with SEND who have an EHCP.
  • Pay: FTE (£23,893 - £25,119)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning experiences to students with diverse SEND needs. (SEMH, ASC, SLD, MLD, ADHD)
  • Foster a positive and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support student progress.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of individualised education plans for each student.
  • Support the class teacher in the delivery of the curriculum and work with students in groups or on a 1:1 as required.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with students with SEND is essential.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Be nurturing and caring in your approach
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Experience in non-verbal communication. Eg. Makaton, PECS is desirable but not essential
