Your new company

Our client, a well-established and reputable service sector business have an exciting new job opportunity for a qualified accountant to join them as Tax Specialist within their wider European finance team to support on UK tax requirements.

Your new role

The purpose of the role is to provide specialist tax advice and support to the business for the first time internally as part of a sustained period of growth within the organisation. You will report directly into the CFO and provide complex tax knowledge and solutions ensuring sufficient focus.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and development of tax strategy
  • Development & documentation of tax risks & control environment including Criminal Corporate Compliance / supporting SAO compliance
  • Delivery of internal training to finance / non finance staff regarding tax compliance issues
  • Submission of VAT & Instrat returns across >6 countries including liaison with overseas agents
  • Tax accounting and management of payments/repayments of VAT
  • Advice on deductibility
  • Draft tax provisioning throughout the year for management accounting purposes
  • Identification of expenditure suitable for R&D credits, capital allowances
  • Maintaining transfer pricing agreements and company policy for all inter-group trades (with support of external group advisors)
  • Identification & sourcing of grant funding available for the company’s operation

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified accountant with CTA, ICAS, ACCA
  • Sound technical tax legislation knowledge
  • Experience working in In-house tax or with multinational clients within Practice
  • Experience in liaising with HMRC
  • Ability to spot cost saving opportunities for the business
  • Transfer Pricing and /or R&D exposure in previous role
  • Analytical with attention to detail.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and various accounting package software (eg SAP).
