Hays is looking for a Support and Rehabilitation Coordinator to work for our client, a leading law firm.

This role will suit a Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Social Worker with a thorough knowledge of healthcare, rehabilitation, welfare policy, services, and advocacy and experience working in a clinical, healthcare, or rehabilitation setting.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week), permanent role. Hybrid working is available, and flexible/part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate. Some travel will be required, mainly in the London/South-East region, but could be nationwide.
Offering a competitive salary, a great working environment and excellent company benefits.

Your New Role
As a Support and Rehabilitation Coordinator, you will play a key role as part of the Personal Injury and Medical Claims Team. You will work alongside specialist solicitors and assist with identifying the rehabilitation and support needs of their clients. You will provide the highest level of support and rehabilitation services to the firm’s clients who have sustained life-changing injuries. You will focus on coordinating, monitoring, and enabling client access to relevant services, and supporting the legal team in directing rehabilitation programmes to assist clients in achieving their rehabilitation goals.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Liaising with clients who have sustained serious injuries to evaluate their financial, support, and rehabilitation needs, and working with the legal team and other healthcare professionals, both within the statutory and private sectors, to develop individual support and rehabilitation programmes.
  • Working with other healthcare professionals to oversee and monitor client progress through rehabilitation, ensuring all appropriate care, support, equipment, and resources are accessed.
  • Working closely with clients, NHS teams, statutory providers, private case managers, private sector healthcare providers, and the legal team to develop and adjust rehabilitation programmes as needed, and to advocate for timely and appropriate statutory support where required.
  • Building relationships with charitable and voluntary organisations to connect clients with a network of resources as part of their rehabilitation and support programme; providing advocacy, signposting, or practical support to the client and their family.
  • Providing emotional and educational support to clients and their families, helping them understand the legal and rehabilitation processes and cope with their challenges. You may be required to visit clients in a medical or home setting.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Qualification in a clinical field (e.g. nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or social work).
  • Active professional registration with either the NMC or HCPC.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of healthcare, rehabilitation, welfare benefits, and advocacy services (including signposting to appropriate alternative services).
  • Proven experience in rehabilitation coordination or a similar role within the private sector, ideally within the personal injury sector, with particular knowledge and experience of major trauma pathways.
  • Understanding of cross-condition issues clients may have experienced (e.g. brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic injury, birth injury, industrial disease, bereavement).
  • Strong understanding of rehabilitation principles and client care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and time-management skills.
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • A full and clean driving licence and access to a car would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation pathways within the litigation arena is desirable.
