Staff Officer Accountant, Derry, Public Sector, Contract Role

Hays Accountancy and Finance are recruiting for the appointment of a Staff Officer Accountant with a large public sector organisation based in the Derry / L'Derry area. This is a contract role offering a competitive rate with hybrid working and flexible working hours.

Your new role

Working in the Financial Planning department supporting the Deputy Principal Accountant, your duties will include: Assisting the DP Accountant in the preparation of the In-year and future budget exercises/returns; assisting with the Departmental Five-Year Budget Sustainability Plan; preparation of financial reports; advise business areas, budget holders of financial position and issues; provide advice and guidance to budget holders on budgets, profiling and forecasting, business cases/approvals, funding and charging and accounting treatments and other ad hoc duties as requested.


What you'll need to succeed

Have successfully passed the final professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the professional bodies detailed below:
(a) Chartered Accountants Ireland;
(b) The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
(c) The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
(d) The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
(e) The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
(f) The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
(g) The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.
Applications will also be considered by applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated. •

Financial/Management Accounting Skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Excellent organisational skills

The ability to work on own initiative and meet tight deadlines
Team working skills

Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
