Software Developer - Digital Solutions Development Team

Job Purpose

To assist with the implementation of the DDat Strategy and lead staff to ensure delivery of the annual business plan including the day-to-day architecting, analysis, design and development of high quality software including support and maintenance.

Job Title: Senior Developer
Department: DDat - ICT
Responsible to: Lead Developer
Salary: Up to £45,000

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To co-ordinate the day to day running of the team to ensure work is apportioned and delivered on time

  • To act as a support element for the other members of the development team

  • To work closely with the lead developer in relation to sprint planning

  • To develop new systems in accordance with the specification to create high level products

  • To assist other staff to deal with software problems and prepare software revisions when system changes or improvements are required

  • To liaise with external agencies and organisations where required in order to carry out the above duties

  • To assist with the technical guidance and mentoring of development staff

  • To keep up to date with new technologies by attending relevant training courses and putting new knowledge and skills into practice in the workplace


Person Specification
  • A relevant degree or equivalent industry recognised qualification

  • At least 3 years of professional experience across a variety of software applications.

  • At least 2 years previous technical experience in a client server environment, preferably using Microsoft technologies and experience of using Visual Studio and source control software

  • Enhanced literacy skills, e.g. composing original letters, statements or writing minutes

  • Able to work under pressure to meet specific deadlines

  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team

  • To possess a full, current driving licence, or acces to a means of mobility support
