Your new company

This is an exciting time to join Sandwell Metropolitan Brought Council Adult Social Care. We are currently restructuring our community social work teams to create town teams and a separate Learning Disability and Autism Team.

Your new role

Sandwell Council are looking for a committed and hardworking qualified Social Worker with Adult Social Work experience working with people with Learning Disabilities/Autism. You will need to be motivated and flexible with high professional standards and sound knowledge and experience of current legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Continuing Health Care, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Community DOLS/LPS.

You will be expected to work with vulnerable adults with Learning Disabilities/Autism and also have some knowledge of physical disabilities, people with profound & complex needs, carers and the wider community. You will need to be confident in undertaking safeguarding investigations, mental capacity assessments, best interest decisions, carrying out outcome-focused assessments, with support planning, to meet their care and support needs.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful, you will need to
Have a recognised professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/B.Sc. in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW)
Social Work England registration
3 years post-qualifying experience.
Previous experience working within Social Work adults services
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to travel as required.
