Construction Planner Required to deliver Large Projects of National Significance

Your new company

Our client is a leading public sector organisation which is currently in the process of delivering two very large pieces of capital infrastructure for the community in Scotland. As these projects pick up pace, they are seeking to appoint an experienced Construction Planner to their delivery team.

Your new role

This role is client side construction planner. Your key internal stakeholders will be the delivery team on each project comprising the Project Manager, Quantity Surveyors and Clerk of Works and you will be regularly working with their construction partners onsite. Your key role will be to ensure that the program for each project is accurate and up to date to allow your team to make informed commercial and operation decisions regarding the performance of the construction partners. This will be done by regular weekly and monthly site visits to each project and regular contact with the site teams and subcontractors on each project through attendance at their progress meetings etc. Your key delivery will be an updated and accurate project programme for your PM to deliver the head of delivery on a weekly and monthly basis.

What you'll need to succeed

These projects are very large and complex and are being delivered by experts in their fields. The ideal candidate would be a construction planning expert with significant experience of working client side in a similar role or with a main contractor. You will have a construction related degree and have a good understanding of the potential commercial impact of a slipping programme and understand how to protect your employer in these cases. You will have direct experience of planning software and have the gravitas and credibility to work with serious construction experts delivering large complex projects.

What you'll get in return

Our client will pay a competitive daily rate to the right candidate and can offer a flexible and mature work environment. There is an opportunity to work a significant amount of time from home in conjunction with regular site visits to both projects. This role is for an initial 12-month term and will be part-time in nature, so it may suit a construction plan looking to deploy their experience in a more flexible way.
