Your new company
A major engineering and defence business in Barrow-In-Furness with an excellent global reputation are looking to welcome a number of experienced Procurement and Supply Chain professionals into their growing team. Due to a secure and growing pipeline of work, this business is recruiting for multiple commercially-minded procurement and supply chain professionals to join the company on a permanent basis. They have won multiple awards and are one of the undisputed leaders within their industry.

Your new role
The Senior Buyer will have accountability for managing key contracts with suppliers, sending invitations to tender (ITT), collating responses and working closely with the commercial team to establish water-tight terms and conditions with suppliers. You will be aware of the key commercials and have an understanding of the clauses within supplier contracts. As Senior Buyer, you will have line management responsibility for more junior members within the team, so you will act as a point of escalation for any potential issues that may arise. You will take a strategic view to procurement and supply chain activity and will report to more senior members of the procurement team. The Senior Buyer will liaise with multiple stakeholders, including internal teams and external suppliers to ensure a seamless procurement process within the direct procurement function.

What you'll need to succeed
  • A proven background in direct procurement from within a manufacturing, engineering or highly regulated and fast-paced procurement environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills
  • Experienced at managing a team and providing coaching & mentorship to more junior colleagues
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office and ERP systems like SAP or similar
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight where required
  • Experience of managing contracts and delivering at pace
