Project Manager, Infrastructure, Highways, Birmingham, £200-£250 per day, Interim

HAYS are working with the West Midlands Combined Authority to recruit for a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead and coordinate the delivery of major infrastructure projects across our Rail, Roads, or Metro programmes. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

This role is paying between £200-£250 per day, and the successful candidate would be based in Birmingham 3 days per week.

The key responsibilities of this role are:
  • Lead the development and execution of project management plans.
  • Coordinate resources, processes, and governance structures to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage critical project activities, including scope, cost, time, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and technical requirements (e.g., CDM, H&S).
  • Collaborate with commercial, procurement, and enabling services teams.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
  • Provide expert advice on project risks and lead resolution activities.
  • Chair project boards and meetings, driving performance and accountability.
  • Act as deputy for the Programme Lead or Head of Delivery when required.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and compliance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive collaborative outcomes.
  • Experience in the transport or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
