Pensions and Payroll Administrator

one year contract

  • To provide an effective and efficient pension support and administrative services.
  • To be the initial point of contact for all pension related queries.
  • To provide a customer focused service to every customer whether internal or external and ensure that queries are resolved in a timely manner.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Particular to the Post :
  1. In conjunction with the HR Advisors, Deputy Group Director HR and Head of Payroll & Pensions, to provide information to staff on a range of pensions issues.
  1. To be a named administrative contact for Teachers’ Pensions and the London Pensions Fund Authority.
  1. To complete the necessary online forms required by Teachers Pensions, the London Pensions Fund Authority, and Nest, including missing service requests, change of hours and personal details.
  1. To deal with general correspondence, enquiries and ad hoc requests for information.
  1. To collate pension data as and when required for internal and external audits.
  1. To assist in the completion of the London Pensions Fund Authority return, reconciling employee and employer contributions based on individual pensionable salaries by the statutory deadline, and resolve queries with them.
  1. To assist in the completion of the Teachers Pensions annual return, tracking all gross salary changes throughout the year for each member by the statutory deadline, and resolve queries with them.
  1. To assist in the completion of the Teachers Pensions Audit Certificate for sign-off by the College’s external financial statement auditors.
  1. To keep up-to-date with changes in legislation and administrative requirements in relation to Teachers’ Pensions and the London Pensions Fund Authority.
  1. To work on short term pension projects and identify opportunities for improvement, including the collating of historical electronic and paper records.
  1. To assist payroll in an ad hoc manner when required, including monthly payroll tasks to ensure staff are paid on time.
  1. T o promote and maintain high standards of work performance and conduct within the payroll section, and the adherence to agreed work programme deadlines, ensuring professional conduct, integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  1. Active Involvement in the Colleges promotional events as required.
  1. General office ad hoc duties.
  1. Person Specification :

4.1 At least two years’ experience working in a pension administration role.

4.2 Proficient word processing skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of packages.

4.3 Experience of using computerised databases, both for inputting and extracting information.

4.4 Experience of working confidentially in administrative role.

4.5 Proven ability to organise, prioritise and schedule work to meet strict deadlines and to progress chase where appropriate.

  1. Evidence of the ability to communicate with a variety of clients including staff, managers, external agencies and members of the public, both face to face and by telephone and email; ability to take accurate notes and messages.
  1. Experience of and skills in implementing a range of office systems including filing, progression of work and record keeping.
  1. Evidence of the ability to work as part of a team and to establish effective working relationships.
  1. An understanding of, and commitment to equal opportunities and practical ideas of their implementation through the scope of this post.
