As a Microbiologist, your role will be to organise and control the monitoring of plant hygiene and product / raw material microbiological conditions, with the aim of maintaining a high standard of hygiene and product safety.

Your new role

• Oversee testing of raw materials, finished products, water, and environmental samples to ensure top-tier quality and safety.
• Collaborate on new product development, evaluating microbiological safety pre-launch to prevent quality issues before they arise
• Take part in internal audits, assess site compliance, and work closely with quality leaders to refine and enhance microbiological standards
• Ensure compliance with CLAS microbiological accreditation and customer-specific standards, keeping the lab at the forefront of excellence.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, waste disposal, and GMP improvements, ensuring the lab functions efficiently and aligns with industry best practices.
• Enforce safety best practices while proactively identifying and mitigating hazards.
• Maintain an effective plant hygiene system, refine cleaning protocols, and minimise product contamination risks.
• Assess microbiological risks of raw ingredients and oversee quality checks to uphold product standards from production to shelf life.

What you'll need to succeed

• B.sc in Microbiology or relevant qualification or experience
• Ability to engage effectively with on-site stakeholders and work well within a team
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
• Ability to use Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting
• Physical capability – Able to lift approximately 14kg for sample movement
• Flexible availability
