Public Sector Estates Maintenance Compliance, Hybrid working, long term contract

Your new company

Our client is a large public sector body with an expansive portfolio of estate across Northern Ireland.
This body has a dedicated estates department that maintain this portfolio. The team is made up of Maintenance Managers from a range of technical backgrounds, including Architecture, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management and M&E Building Services as well as direct labour staff.
This estate includes over 1100 buildings for which the Estates Department is responsible for ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for the stakeholders and users of these buildings. It is the responsibility of the Estates Department to deliver a planned preventative and response maintenance works programme annually that satisfies a robust financial and performance reporting regime. The Estates Department also delivers an annual minor maintenance capital budget across its estate of properties.

Your new role

This is a contract role for an initial 9-12 month duration with the possibility of extension. You will work as part of a larger estates team who report to the Senior Maintenance Officer.
This role will involve:
Supervise the compliance with all relevant current regulations and legislation with particular emphasis on the Health and Safety of pupils, teachers and the general public.
Carry out regular visits to properties in relation to day-to-day maintenance problems and planned maintenance programmes.
Inspect, supervise and instruct Contractors of various disciplines in relation to the quality of work in progress.

What you'll need to succeed

HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical studies;
You will be required to evidence the following:
  • Experience of day-to-day organisation and operation of all matters relating to statutory compliance across a medium to large estate;
  • Experience of liaising with contractors to ensure statutory compliance KPIs are met;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with a wide range of professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team and the technical ability and knowledge to contribute as an effective member of a team;
  • Flexibility to meet changing demands and to prioritise as required.

What you'll get in return

The contract offers an immediate start working alongside a large team of Construction, Surveying and Engineering professionals.
You will have the option to be based from one of 4 locations across Northern Ireland, along with flexible Hybrid working from home.
Salary range £39,500 - £40,476, pro rata.
Working hours, 36 per week, Monday to Friday.
35 days annual leave including stat days, pro rata.
