You will provide support to work to the highest standard using our model of practice, Restorative Practice, to deliver the vision. You will access a professional social work development offer that has been designed by social workers, whatever stage you are at in your career. You will be given regular restorative supervision and separate supervision focussing on development and evidencing your SWE registration. We want everyone to take the lead in an area of interest for your team, and you will explore this with your line manager.

Your new role

Southend-on-Sea City Council has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker looking for a change and ready to innovate in an environment where you can stretch yourself professionally and make an impact individually.
You will play a key part in transforming the lives of young people to enable them to integrate into the community. You will be supportive and motivated, enabling the Social Workers and Personal Advisers in the team to aspire to the high standards that you model. You will be shaping practice standards within the service, delivering positive outcomes collaboratively.
Our Social Workers have unique mobile working technology initiatives and accessible management, and receive all the support they need to produce professional and comprehensive Pathway Plans for young people who come under the responsibility of Southend City Council. Working to the highest standards, you will investigate, evaluate and analyse case information to provide expert, well-evidenced assessments and realistic plans tailored to the individual needs of young people.
You will be expected to be thorough in your record-keeping and insightful in your casework consultations. You play an integral part in the work that the council does and how they do it for the young people.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.
You will need to have a detailed knowledge of young people, leaving care, looked after children and associated child in need social work practice issues. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance & policy issues are also required for this position.
Additional knowledge must be demonstrated in: understanding the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families and knowledge of methods of social work intervention. Previous experience of staff management, supervision or practice teaching along with extensive experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting is a must for this post.
