Global insurance business looking to recruit an Indirect Tax Business Partner
- Lead discussions with the business and represent indirect tax on business advisory and special projects.
- Develop and run projects around indirect tax opportunities and legislative developments. This includes building and maintaining project momentum.
- Maintain, document and communicate material questions, concerns or issues arising out of the tax and non-tax specific projects and initiatives, which may result in tax process implications.
- Assist and represent indirect tax during strategic and corporate initiatives and consult with relevant tax team members to provide a joint perspective to business from the groups tax standpoint.
- Collaborate with tax compliance and reporting team to ensure complete and correct reporting around the groups indirect tax advisory positions.
- Prepare indirect tax communications to Senior Executives, Board and other management committees.
- Establish credibility with key internal stakeholders and increase the visibility of and engagement with the London Tax Team.
- Continuously reviewing and taking appropriate opportunities to improve tax governance process and operational effectiveness.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including professional advisors, tax authorities.
- Maintain industry knowledge and an understanding of VAT & IPT rules and practices globally to evaluate their impact on the business.
- Keep up to date with tax legislative developments and apply them to GRSI as maybe relevant.
- Provide technical insight and review of indirect tax returns.
- Manage the development of indirect tax assistant managers. Providing structure, support and advice.
- Collaborate and proactively engage with the tax team to enable them to respond to indirect tax challenges.
- Take ownership of the Indirect Tax general ledger accounts.
- Contribute to the development of tax-owned and tax impacting controls, procedures, control testing programmes, as business change requires review and change.Reporting to the Head of Tax, the Indirect Tax Business Partner
will have full responsibility across indirect tax however it will be heavily
weighted toward non-compliance activities. In addition they will be a leading
figure within wider finance and change initiatives on behalf of the London Tax
Team. The individual will have a proven track record providing technical
expertise and business partnering.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering

What you'll need to succeed
- At least five years post-qualification (ACA or CTA).
- Excellent team player. Will respond to change and challenges positively for and on behalf of the team. Maintaining a professional and positive outlook at all times.
- Strong relationship skills and an effective communicator.
- Professional services experience (large professional practice or global blue chip background), and extensive experience optimising and managing VAT positions. Financial Services and IPT experience are advantageous.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK Indirect tax and awareness of global indirect taxes, particularly across the EMEA region. Including experience of partly exempt VAT groups
- Proven ability to deliver solutions and achieve deadlines.
- Ability to learn and use a variety of accounting systems
- Takes personal accountability and responsibility for getting things done. It includes a willingness to go beyond what is required in a given situation, overcome or avoid obstacles or barriers to achieve successful outcomes;
- The ability to align oneself with the needs, priorities and goals of the wider group;
- A self-starter, with proven ability to solve complex VAT issues and take ownership in delivering solutions. Must be able to effectively build relationships with and advise internal stakeholders and collaborate in delivering pragmatic solutions
- Good Microsoft and power point skills.
- Role will involve adhoc day trips to European locations, but no regular overseas travel expected
- second language (French, German, Spanish) would be an advantage, but not essential.·
