NEW Group Finance Director Opportunity - Essex/Hybrid - International Group

Hays are very pleased to be partnering with a highly successful International Group, which operates in multiple countries and has revenue of £400 million pa and growing, to recruit a technically strong and talented Group Finance Director.
The Group Finance Director will have responsibility for the group financial reporting, treasury, taxation and financial control and will influence strategy and support the group in their drive for continued profitable growth, organically and through strategic acquisition.

Your new role
The Group Finance Director will report to the Group CFO, and will take ownership of the production and presentation of accurate and timely financial reporting and management information to key business stakeholders and the board. They will lead Group Finance and Treasury Teams, and have a functional reporting line with the Regional Heads of Finance.
The Group Finance Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong financial control environment with consistency of policies and processes across the Group's businesses.
The Group Finance Director will have a wide range of expertise, including proven technical skills, ability to communicate on all levels and a can-do attitude. They will be “hands on” and show strong leadership capability, able to adapt to continually evolving challenges.
Forward planning and communication will be crucial in order to meet deadlines and provide timing and insightful business insight.

The role will include but not be limited to the following:

Monthly and Periodic Reporting
  • Analysis and interrogation of monthly results prepared by the Regions including P&L, balance sheet and cash flows;
  • Preparation of consolidated management information for group and management meetings;
  • Development of the group’s consolidation system (Cognos) to improve quality, accuracy and efficiency of data collection;
  • Oversight of all financial information produced for the board;
  • Preparation and review of data for key shareholders;
  • Develop a broad understanding of the key business drivers and provide reports and commentary that aid understanding for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes by providing timetables and instructions;
  • Develop the budget and forecast templates to ensure that key forecast data is collated and reviewed;
  • Provide advice to Regions as required to assist in the accurate preparation of budgets;
  • Consolidate budgets and oversee Cognos reporting;
  • Assist with the preparation of head office budgets.

Treasury and Company Secretarial
  • Oversee the group treasury function and movements of cash across the group;
  • Review monthly & 13-week cash forecasts, challenge key assumptions and provide consolidated commentary for the board;
  • Analyse weekly and monthly debt reports against budget and forecast, understanding reasons for key variances;
  • Review detailed monthly debt schedule ensuring it is reconciled to the monthly management accounts;
  • Preparation of reports for third parties including banks and credit agencies;
  • Oversee changes to statutory registers and group structure.

Statutory Accounts and Audit
  • Oversee the Group Financial Controller and work closely to manage timetables and submission of key information as part of the annual audit process;
  • Oversight of Group Consolidated Financial Statements and work with CEO and CFO to complete directors and strategic reports;
  • Prepare impairment review papers and going concern forecasts;
  • Review and aid preparation of accounting papers for complex or unusual transactions.

Tax
  • Oversee the group’s tax strategy and compliance process in conjunction with external tax advisers;
  • Review and optimise Transfer Pricing policies and management charge policies, and ensure group transactions adhere with transfer pricing policies and guidelines.
  • Review and optimise structure for overseas Dividend flows and cash repatriation.

Other
  • Oversight of the group’s annual insurance renewal.
  • Involvement in M&A and integration into the wider group

Process improvement
  • Further development of group-wide policies and processes and ensuring consistency in accounting procedures and policies across the group
  • Update and roll out of group-wide accounting policies
  • Assisting internal audit with implementation of controls and improving the consistency of reporting
  • "Hands on" approach to analysing data and driving through operational improvements
  • Assisting new and established financial controllers and accountants across the group

What you'll need to succeed
Key skills and attributes of the successful candidate
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), with minimum 10 years PQE
  • Prior experience of working for an international group
  • Strong technical accounting and reporting skills; FRS102, IFRS, Group Consolidation
  • Treasury and cashflow management skills
  • Taxation and liaison with external consultants
  • Strong management skills and able to work alongside experienced management;
  • Good understanding of financial forecasting and budgeting for both P&L, balance sheet and cash flows
  • Good commercial and analytical skills with experience in closely controlling costs, analysing and continuous improvement of business performance
  • Broad IT Skills: Excel (advanced level), financial modelling, PowerPoint, Cognos experience, or similar consolidation system, beneficial
  • Can do attitude and ability to adapt quickly
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage and develop direct reports
  • Experience of ABL facilities, HP financing and Invoice discounting, preferred but not essential
  • Driven to provide continuous improvement
