Your new role
As the Deputy Payroll Manager, reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will have a challenging and varied role in managing their payroll operations across the UK business. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead on payroll processing, ensuring flawless and timely payroll. You will need to maintain compliance and deliver excellent service.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as an in-house expert on payroll matters, providing advice on pay, tax, NI, pensions, and deductions.
  • Coordinate and manage the payroll process from data entry to reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payroll legislation.
  • Coordinate pension and benefits processing, ensuring compliance with the Pensions Regulator.
  • Provide timely responses to employee payroll and pension queries, maintaining a high standard of integrity.
  • Serve as the point of contact for customer and partner concerns regarding payroll-related issues, working closely with HR, Finance, and payroll providers.
  • Lead and mentor the Payroll Administrator, conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve service delivery.
  • Keep process documentation up to date, including annual payroll calendars with payroll providers and the global payroll calendar.
  • Participate in payroll system projects and manage external audit requests as required.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and applying payroll rules and regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and payroll systems (ideally WORKDAY)
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of GPP schemes and pension administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex payroll data effectively.
  • Experience in benefits administration and pension schemes is advantageous.
