You will be joining a technical and professional services organisation and a maritime classification society, wholly owned by a UK charity dedicated to research and education in science and engineering. The organisation dates back to as far back as 1760. Its stated aims are to enhance the safety of life, property, and the environment, by helping its clients (including by validation, certification, and accreditation) to improve the safety and performance of complex projects, supply chains and critical infrastructure. You will be responsible for identifying the key data challenges, mapping the requirements to treat data as a managed asset, clean legacy data, and implementing the client’s data governance framework within the Client domain. You will be working with other Data Owners representing critical areas of the company.

You will be responsible for; evaluating the current state of the Client data domain and defining a strategy to improve data quality and data management practices associated with the lifecycle of the Client data set (comprising Account and Contact). Working with product managers and product owners to identify data quality issues/gaps affecting their business processes and applications and agree prioritisation of these issues. Lead and coordinate the design and implementation of quantifiable metrics to assess Client data quality standards and be able to report back to senior management on progress setting up the Data Steward network for Client data, work with business teams responsible for handling Client data (creating, enriching, consuming) to classify and standardise the Client data model across multiple business domains. Define a set of processes and procedures to support the adoption of the Data Governance Framework in the business teams responsible for client data management. Establish escalation paths for data issues identified by data handlers, participate in programme boards and working groups representing the client's business domain and associated stakeholders. Collaborate with Technology teams to support the development of conceptual models, business glossaries and the adoption of new tools to support a data transformation initiative in the Client domain and establish the Client Data Owner role and define a path to a business as usual state for this role

What you will need to succeed
You should have recent and relevant experience setting up Data Owner/Steward networks in a corporate environment. You should be familiar with commercial, client relationship management functions and demonstrate the ability to deliver against targets. This role will operate at a senior management level, so you must be able to evidence experience in stakeholder management and engagement in strategy meetings in a multicultural corporate environment. There will be an element of self-management, so you should be familiar with standard project management frameworks and reporting into a programme.
