Communications Officer - Sandwell - ASAP Start - Interim
Your new role
To lead, plan, develop and deliver an innovative and highly effective campaign-led communications service, giving expert advice that will support the delivery of the company's priorities and enhance the reputation.
Managing members of the communications team and resources across the company to ensure the communications service supports the Cabinet, Chief Executive and Leadership Team to achieve the aims and objectives set out.
Your duties will include:
- Lead on all communications activity within the relevant directorate (People/Place/Finance, Transformation and ACE), in line with the company’s Communications Strategy. Take management responsibility within the communications service to ensure it supports the delivery of the objectives and priorities of the company.
- Lead on embedding a campaign-led approach to communications, working with the Head of Communications to maintain an up-to-date Communications Strategy to deliver a strategic communications service. Ensure that wherever appropriate, campaigns are planned using the relevant framework and evaluated to measure impact and learn lessons for future campaign activity.
- Take a long-term and forward thinking approach to planning communications, working alongside the Head of Communications to create, update and maintain an organisational narrative, place narrative and set of key messages that allows tactical communications to be deployed to support the delivery of the overall objectives of the Communications Strategy.
- Develop and maintain a clear forward plan for communications and resident engagement to ensure timely, accurate and relevant communications across a range of channels to support the strategic outcomes and corporate plan.
- Act as a management team within the communications service, alongside the Head of Communications and Internal Communications, to assign work to other members of the team in order to deliver the forward plan and respond to urgent or unanticipated issues as they arise. Work collaboratively to coordinate activity, ensuring the dissemination of information is choreographed so that various stakeholders are informed at the right time.
- Maintain an understanding of the digital communications landscape, and lead on researching where target audiences are active, understanding and tracking sentiment, and lead on content development strategies.

This is a temporary on going role, starting as soon as possible. You will recieve weekly pay, at a rate of £27.93 per hour.
