This is a part-time role (3 days a week) for a short period of time (4 weeks).

Your new company

You will be joining the Governance and Business Services team within a high-profile Central Government organisation, a key player in ensuring the resilience and readiness of the business in response to disruptions.

Your new role

As a Business Continuity Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing the organisation's business continuity arrangements and producing prioritised action plans for improvements. Your role will focus on identifying gaps, developing actionable improvement plans, and supporting the implementation of measures to ensure the resilience and readiness of the business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessment and Analysis:
    Evaluate current business continuity and disaster recovery plans, conduct risk assessments, and review business impact assessments (BIAs).
  • Improvement Plan Development:
    Develop prioritised action plans and recommend strategies to enhance organisational resilience.
  • Implementation and Support:
    Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and implement improvements, and develop continuity plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Testing and Validation:
    Plan and conduct continuity tests, simulations, and exercises, and incorporate improvements based on results.
  • Ongoing Monitoring and Reporting:
    Establish metrics to monitor performance, and prepare detailed reports for senior management.

What you'll need to succeed

Essential:
  • Experience in developing and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Strong knowledge of business continuity standards, frameworks, and best practices (e.g., ISO 22301, BCI Good Practice Guidelines).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments and business impact assessments.
  • Proven track record of managing projects or initiatives focused on business resilience.
Preferred:
  • Professional certification in business continuity (e.g., CBCP, MBCI, or equivalent).
  • Experience working within UK Government departments and/or ALBs.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for business continuity within UK Government departments.
  • Experience designing and facilitating crisis management exercises.

What you'll get in return

You will be rewarded with a competitive day rate of between £450-550. You will also have a flexible working arrangement, as you will only be required to be in the office 1/2 days a week (flexible to be remote for the right candidate).
