Your new role
The role holder, under the direction of the M&E Maintenance and Compliance Manager, will be responsible for the day-to-day running, inspection, and monitoring of the Council’s mechanical building services and equipment. They will provide design and project management roles and supervise day-to-day and minor work contracts to clients. The role includes delivering the Council’s Planned Maintenance Programme, and being responsible for procuring and managing contracts and SLAs for property services provision.
- Provide project management and design services.
- Offer professional technical advice on all matters relating to mechanical design services.
- Ensure adherence to site standards and practices.
- Monitor fee income and expenditure on a project-by-project basis.
- Make decisions on costs and quality of specified equipment within a pre-determined budget.
- Handle reactive calls and enquiries on a day-to-day basis and be responsible for outcomes.
- Manage building services maintenance and servicing contracts.
- Conduct detailed building services condition surveys.
- Manage or attend public meetings.
- Participate in inter-departmental and inter-agency projects.
- Advise on the feasibility, viability, and cost implications of proposals by clients and external parties.
- Substantial theoretical and practical knowledge of several specialisms within the mechanical field.
- Substantial knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework of Property Legislation and Building Regulations.
- Considerable working knowledge of construction H&S legislation.
- Proficiency in computer and IT skills, including specialist knowledge of discipline-specific software packages such as Hevacomp and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills.
- Substantial experience of working in an industrial, commercial, or engineering environment.
- Substantial experience of site surveys, report writing, and preparation of budgets.
