Bioinformatician | Newcastle | Up to £45K | Hybrid

Company:
Our client is a fast-growing medical technology company revolutionising point-of-care molecular diagnostics within the life science sector. They are based in Newcastle and offer hybrid working arrangements for those further away, as long as you can make it to the site a few days a week.

Responsibilities:
  • Support general tasks such as software development, database maintenance, and report generation.
  • Work with the group commercialisation program by designing assays for the company’s diagnostic platform.
  • Collaborate with the Assay Team to deliver the molecular diagnostic product pipeline.
  • Identify appropriate reference sources for sequences (e.g., GISAID and NCBI databases).
  • Be familiar with NextGen sequencing and associated pipelines.
  • Use Python and Jupyter Lab for working and application development.
  • Generate, manipulate, analyse, and present complex data.
  • Assist in report writing and SOP generation.
  • Interrogate sequence data to design new diagnostic assays.
  • Collaborate on projects with external partners.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g., bioinformatics, computer science, or statistics).
  • Relevant experience in bioinformatics.
  • Familiarity with sequencing data and standard bioinformatics tools.
