Mix Practice Director, Audit, Accounts, Tax, Accountancy Practice, ACA, Qualified Accountant

Hays are exclusively representing a well established Boutique Accountancy practice based in South Belfast. The firm is going through a period of growth and are looking for an experienced and motivated mixed practice director to join the boutique accountancy firm. You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of accountants and tax advisers who provide a range of services to our clients, including audit, tax, bookkeeping, payroll, and business advisory. You will also be involved in developing and implementing the firm’s strategy, ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulations, and maintaining high-quality client relationships.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the mixed practice, including staff supervision, workload allocation, performance review, and training
  • Develop and execute the firm’s business plan and budget, in alignment with the firm’s vision and values
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, as well as maintain and grow existing client relationships
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality and timely services to clients, in accordance with professional standards and best practices
  • Monitor and manage the financial performance and profitability of the mixed practice, as well as the firm as a whole.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff and clients on complex accounting and tax issues
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as regulators, auditors, banks, and other professionals
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments and changes in the accounting and tax industry, and ensure the firm’s compliance with relevant laws and regulations


What you'll need to succeed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Professional qualifications, such as ACA , ACCA or CTA
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior management role in an accountancy practice, preferably with exposure to both audit and tax
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software
  • Knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage would be an advantage.
