Solutions Architect
The Solution Architect will design, guide, and oversee the architectural development of a custom-built system built primarily on Amazon Web Services (AWS) that leverages microservices architecture. The system will integrate seamlessly with other core business systems to support operational efficiency and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Design
- Develop scalable, high-performance architecture for a microservices-based system.
- Ensure adherence to standards and industry best practices.
- Develop and promote best practice for scalable, high-performance architecture.
Integration Strategy
- Design APIs and integration frameworks to connect the custom system with existing business systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, data warehouse).
- Ensure secure and reliable data flow between systems.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical oversight during the development, deployment, and maintenance phases.
- Collaborate with the wider architecture team, developers, DevOps, and QA teams to ensure technical alignment.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple business or technical areas in the organisation.
- Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Governance and Standards
- Establish and enforce coding, deployment, and architectural standards for microservices.
- Ensure the solution meets compliance and security standards.
Problem-Solving
- Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks and integration challenges.
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve the value-for-money proposition.
Essential Criteria
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- TOGAF or similar architecture framework certifications.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of microservices design principles and best practices.
- Expertise in APIs, RESTful services, and message-based communication.
Integration Experience
- Demonstrated expertise in integrating disparate business systems.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Desirable Criteria
Education
AWS / Azure Solution Architect Certification.
Technical Skills
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration.
- Command of programming languages.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms.
Integration Experience
Experience with middleware tools.
Soft Skills
- Work with commercial stakeholders to identify appropriate contractual frameworks and approaches.
- Identify, evaluate and select appropriate suppliers.
