HR Advisor | 6 months | Public Sector

Hays are pleased to be working with a large public sector body to appoint an HR Advisor for a 6-month temporary role.

Your new role

As an HR Advisor, you will support the HR Manager for Resourcing & Employee Services by leading the Employee Services Team and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient HR support services.
You will be responsible for:

  • Team Leadership: Manage the day-to-day operations of the EST, ensuring staff are trained, competent, and delivering professional services.

  • Service Delivery: Oversee all employee services functions, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.

  • Process Improvement: Regularly review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assess the effectiveness of HR systems and applications.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Produce accurate and timely reports on attendance, HR metrics, and other key data for senior management and governance bodies.

  • Policy Implementation: Support the implementation of NIFRS HR policies and ensure alignment with best practices and legal standards.

  • Stakeholder Support: Provide guidance to managers on employee services issues and maintain strong working relationships across departments.

What you'll need to succeed

Applicants must provide evidence by the closing date of application that they meet the following essential criteria:
1. Either: Possess a degree-level qualification and have current professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) at Associate level (Assoc CIPD) or above and have at least two years’ experience of working in an HR function within a large complex organisation, multi-site, multi-disciplinary to include provision of employee services and production of HR statistics and reports.
OR:
Possess a degree-level qualification and be working towards achieving professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and have at least four years’ experience of working in an HR function within a large complex organisation, multi-site, multi-disciplinary* to include: provision of employee services and production of HR statistics and reports.

2. Experience providing professional HR advice to managers on employee services issues.


3. A sound understanding of current employment legislation.


4. Can demonstrate:
(a) excellent planning and organisational skills;
(b) ability to produce accurate work;
(c) excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to advise senior management;
(d) a strong customer orientation.


5. Experience using Windows and other Microsoft applications.


6. Possess a full, current UK driving licence or have access to a form of transport which enables them to fulfil the full requirements of the job.

What you'll get in return

  • Hourly rate of £19.11/hour, equivalent to £36,022 per annual
