I am proud to be working in partnership with a public sector organisation who are recruiting for a Communications Officer to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity where you will play a key role in transforming how the Communications team engages with its residents, customers, and stakeholders across a growing range of digital and traditional channels.

What You’ll Do:
You’ll lead the charge on high-impact internal and external campaigns that inform, inspire, and empower. From crafting compelling press releases and social media content to advising senior leaders and managing media relations, your work will help ensure our communities stay connected to the services they rely on.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing and delivering strategic communications campaigns
  • Managing media relations and acting as a spokesperson
  • Creating engaging content for web, social, print, and video
  • Supporting internal communications and change programmes
  • Collaborating with partners on joint campaigns
  • Providing crisis comms support when needed
They are looking for communicators who are:
  • Skilled in campaign planning and content creation
  • Confident working with media, stakeholders, and senior leaders
  • Digitally savvy with a flair for storytelling
  • Organised, adaptable, and collaborative
Essential experience:
  • Proven track record in communications, PR, journalism, or digital media
  • Strong writing and editing skills across multiple platforms
  • Understanding of comms evaluation and digital tools
Desirable:
  • Local government or public sector experience
  • Familiarity with AI tools and emerging digital platforms
Qualifications:
  • Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, PR, or equivalent experience
