Building Surveyor

Your new company

Excellent opportunity to join a charity in Chelmsford who own a substantial property portfolio across Essex. Within this role you will be largely focused on their residential portfolio which includes listed buildings and properties of historical significance. You will be joining an organisation who value their employees and offer competitive benefits including 35 hour working weeks (full-time), excellent employer pension contributions and hybrid working options. You will be joining a friendly and welcoming team who rarely recruit due to high retention.

Your new role

As the Building Surveyor, you will be joining an established team and will be responsible for undertaking building surveys within the cyclical programme (which will include stock condition surveys) and manage the planned preventative maintenance programme. You will also be involved in their decarbonisation projects. You will therefore be involved with conducting building surveys, specification writing and contract administration. As part of the role, you will also be required to get involved with insurance claims and assist with diagnosing reactive maintenance issues. This is an excellent all-round Building Surveying role providing exposure to a variety of interesting property types including listed buildings.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful for the role you should be an experienced Building Surveyor and have ideally gained experience working with residential property. MRICS or MCIOB preferred, although not essential. You should hold a valid driving licence and should be willing to provide a vehicle for work purposes. You should live within commutable distance of Chelmsford and have excellent communication skills.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will benefit from a competitive salary and excellent benefits including high employer pension contributions, 25 days annual leave (which increases with service) plus Bank Holidays, flexible and hybrid working, payment of professional membership fees, 35 hour working week, life insurance and employee assistance programme with access to counselling.
