Intermediate Quantity Surveyor Required For Leading Multidisciplinary Construction Consultancy In Belfast

Your new company

Hays are working with a leading multidisciplinary construction consultancy, operating across Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, and Project Management. This organisation has recently opened a new office in Northern Ireland and are actively seeking to strengthen their Quantity Surveying team in Belfast. Focusing on sectors such as Commercial, Residential, Education, Sports, Government & Retail and due to the ongoing expansion of their team and workload, a position for an experienced Quantity Surveyor has become available.


Your new role

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive candidate to take responsibility for providing all core Quantity Surveying services on a number of interesting projects, for a number of clients across a variety of sectors. Your duties will be inclusive of but not limited to:

  • To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances.
  • Comply with established commercial/procurement/ contractual strategies.
  • Preparation of indicative cost budgets and appraisals.
  • Preparation of elemental cost plans.
  • Provide advice and views, in respect of our clients' development plans and expectations.
  • Providing advice on procurement strategy.
  • Preparing and issuing tender documents.
  • Managing and contributing to structured and documented tender evaluations.
  • Preparation of Contract Recommendation Reports.
  • Scrutinising and verifying applications for interim payments.
  • Managing change control in accordance with contracts.
  • Promote commercial awareness throughout the project.


What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive, proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results. The following criteria are also required:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline.
  • Strong technical delivery experience.
  • MRICS or membership of other relevant professional body preferred.
  • Ability to successfully manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner.
  • Strong feasibility and cost planning experience.
  • Pre and Post contract experience of a range of schemes.
  • Experience of providing procurement advice, tender documentation and post-contract services.
  • Stakeholder management with a clear focus on developing client accounts.
  • A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines.
