The Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping students manage their behaviour and engage positively with learning. Working closely with the pastoral team, SENCO, and teaching staff, you’ll support students both in and out of the classroom, helping to create a safe, respectful, and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural needs
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and self-regulation
  • Support teaching staff in maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour

About You:

  • Experience working with young people with behavioural or emotional needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and external agencies
  • Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) is desirable but not essential
