Job Title: Finance Assistant – Education Sector
Location: Just outside Middlesbrough
Hours: 35 hours per week | Flexible start and finish times
Contract Type: Temporary - ongoing
Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 full-time equivalent

Hays are currently recruiting for a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join the finance team of a well-regarded educational institution located just outside of Middlesbrough. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a meaningful sector while developing your finance career in a supportive and collaborative environment.

As a Finance Assistant, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation. Your duties will include:
  • Invoice Processing: Accurate and timely entry of supplier invoices
  • Payments & Reconciliations: Processing payments and reconciling accounts, including bank and petty cash
  • Budgetary Control: Supporting budget holders with financial queries and monitoring expenditure
  • Financial Reporting: Assisting with the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports
  • System Maintenance: Ensuring financial systems are up-to-date and accurate
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a finance or accounts assistant role, ideally within the education sector
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Sage 200 is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
