2 x Category Director Roles (Indirects) - £90k-£120k - Bristol - 3 days per week - Financial Services

I'm supporting a Financial Services business based in Bristol to recruit two Category Director positions into their global procurement function. They have started a procurement transformation programme a year again and due to this, have created these two roles to spearhead expert category teams, lead strategic sourcing of the given indirect categories and develop strong stakeholder relationships.

The category split down for the roles are as follows:

Role 1: HR, Marketing, Communications & Travel (c. $200m spend p.a)

Role 2: Consulting, Legal, Finance & Banking (c. $140m spend p.a)

What can you expect from this role?

  • Lead the procurement transformation programme 'on the ground' by rolling out thorough category management
  • Manage annual spend of the indirect categories, ensuring a VfM approach is taken
  • Data-driven sourcing analysis to make informed category decisions and strategic purchasing
  • Build, manage and coach a small team of around 5 FTEs (Category Leads & Analysts)
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand current spend, ensure procurement are involved in spending decisions and consulting them on best practices / routes to market
  • Manage high-value, long-term contracts to ensure risk is minimised and quality is upheld
  • Work closely with the CPO to execute the wider global procurement strategy
  • Drive continuous improvement within your team and areas of spend
  • Engage directly with suppliers at all level

What do you need to bring?

  • Proven experience operating at a similar level in Procurement
  • Expert in the category areas given, with previous experience managing similar levels of spend
  • Strong leadership qualities and experience leading & building high-performing teams
  • Confident communication, influencing and negotiation skills from both a supplier and stakeholder perspective
  • Past transformation experience would be highly desirable, whether that's in a greenfield or brownfield environment
  • The ability to consult stakeholders comfortably and steer their decisions
  • Operated on a global scale in previous roles
  • An analytical and problem solving mindset, with the ability to proactively go out to the business
  • MCIPS / FCIPS & Continuous Improvement certifications would be highly desirable
