Senior Communications Engineer (Temporary/Contract)
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid – minimum 2 days in-office)
Start Date: 2nd June 2025
Contract Duration: 6 months

Our client, a multidisciplinary consultancy, are on the lookout for a Senior Communications Engineer to join their team on a temporary contract basis. It is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications engineer to further develop their career within a leading consultancy.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the design and delivery of cutting-edge communications systems, structured cabling systems, including copper and fibre optic systems and the associated physical network infrastructure.
  • Able to demonstrate a full understanding of the key Building Services design considerations when working on projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across sectors like Nuclear, Defence, Infrastructure, Government, and Transportation.
  • Engage directly with clients, presenting designs and leading technical discussions.
  • Manage project deliverables and mentor junior team members.
  • Customer focussed, and builds, maintains, and nurtures a high-profile client base.

What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Communications, Electronic Engineering, or ICT (Chartered or working towards Chartership preferred).
  • Strong experience in:
    Building Management Systems (BMS)
    Video Surveillance Systems (VSS)
    Access Control Systems (ACS)
    Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
    PAVA systems
    • Structured cabling (copper & fibre) IP networking and AV systems.
    • Experience of attending site and monitoring works, including familiarity with the installation and commissioning stages of the project for communications systems and their supporting ancillaries (such as containment, power).
    • Ability to manage packages of work, taking charge of their own deliverables and the deliverables of others to successfully meet project deadlines.
    • Excellent report writing ability, with experience of writing specifications of varying detail to align with the requirements of the RIBA stages.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD (desirable).
  • Excellent report writing and specification skills.
  • Familiarity with RIBA/BSRIA stages and BIM processes.
  • Ability to work independently and lead project packages.
