Hays Education is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected specialist secondary school in Whitefield, Bury, that supports pupils aged 11–16 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your New Job
We are looking for a Level 3 qualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join the school on a full-time, long-term basis, with the potential to become a permanent position. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and experienced TA to work in a specialist setting where you can make a real difference.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs in and out of the classroom
- Delivering targeted interventions and 1:1 support
- Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement EHCPs and personalised learning plans
- Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you must have:
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, especially SEMH
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them succeed
