Your new role
We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our wonderful school and work with our exceptional learners. We are looking for a creative, resilient, open-minded Positive Relationships Lead to work with our exceptional learners. The Positive Relationships Lead will be accountable for promoting the highest possible standards of behaviour of the learners at Wilds Lodge School, including:
● Taking a strategic overview of the department and developing then implementing plans to improve efficiency and effectiveness in relation to its contribution to the school's vision and purpose
● Leading the Positive Relationships Team on assessing and evaluating learner behaviour patterns and setting targets for improvement
● Work in partnership with SLT, Therapy and Family Support to ensure learners positive support plans are kept up to date in real time
● Leading the BWT in developing and enhancing the positive behaviour support skills and physical interventions of staff working across the school
● Developing and enhancing relational practice within the staff team via formal and informal methods
● Delivering 1:1 pastoral support when necessary
● Monitoring and quality assuring the delivery of behaviour programmes within the school
● Collaborate with the Assistant Heads to coordinate the activity of the Positive Relationship Mentor team
What you'll need to succeed
The appointed candidate will have experience working with learners who have behavioural difficulties. You will have a broad knowledge of strategies used for teaching children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and those who have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). You will know how to develop, provide and deliver behavioural support for learners and how to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of staff.
About Wilds Lodge
Wilds Lodge School is an independent 38 week specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls are accepted as day learners only) for learners aged between 5 and 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, set in Empingham, Rutland. All the learners at the school have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
It was established in 2007 and aims to place an equal emphasis on the educational, social and psychological development of our learners.
The key to the success of the school is a strong ethos, developed by a highly experienced and capable staff, and the strength of the relationships between the staff and the learners.
We are a friendly school where staff are supportive of each other inside and outside of the classroom. We pride ourselves in ensuring all members of staff including our support staff have access to regular training. All our members of staff attend regular training on child protection; mental health and multi-agency working. All staff access a wide range of training on areas of SEN such as Autism, attachment and ADHD.
