Your new role

As Lead Systems Administrator, you'll join our client's technical team where you'll take a leading role in the administration, support, and design of their complex technical systems' environment. This is a key position that combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily support and system administration for Technical Systems environments, primarily focusing on Firewalls, Load Balancers, VPNs, wireless networks, and LAN infrastructure
  • Leading the design, configuration, development, testing, and deployment of network and application security solutions to meet complex business and user needs
  • Taking a leadership role in technical support and systems administration tasks across multiple Cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud
  • Gathering, reviewing, and analysing complex business and user requirements to create effective solution designs
  • Contributing technical expertise to projects, helping design optimal systems with appropriate security, resilience, and functionality
  • Conducting routine monitoring and analysis including audit log evaluation, system utilisation reports, site usage growth reports, and managing quota settings
  • Escalating potential concerns to Technology Senior Managers when necessary

What you'll need to succeed

  • Significant, proven experience working as a senior team member or leader within systems administration
  • Expert knowledge of LAN infrastructure configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Extensive experience with VPN firewalls, including implementation, policy management, and security optimisation
  • Strong proficiency across multiple cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud) with hands-on administration experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex user requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Proven track record in the develop-test-deploy lifecycle for network and security systems
  • Experience with Fortinet products and general firewall administration
  • Strong report and documentation skills to present information in a concise and logical manner to the team and wider stakeholders
