Quantity Surveyor Required for Derry/ Londonderry QS Consultancy

Hays are thrilled to be partnering with a respected QS consultancy practice in Derry, Londonderry, providing expert commercial support to Developers, Main Contractors, and Subcontractors. Our client offers a diverse range of services, including feasibility studies, estimating, and full-cycle commercial management, ensuring successful project delivery.

Your new role

This opportunity allows the successful candidate to gain experience across all aspects of the business. The company continues to provide estimating and post-contract QS services across a wide array of projects, from smaller developments to multi-use schemes exceeding £100m in value. With several live projects currently in progress, the successful candidate will work alongside Main Contractors, Subcontractors, and Clients.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct take off from drawings using specialist software.
  • Prepare and issue tender enquiries, managing the appointment of subcontractors.
  • Oversee daily subcontractor management, including variations, payment applications, and issuing payment notices.
  • Visit project sites to compile monthly payment applications for submission to the Client’s QS.
  • Perform remeasures as works progress in preparation for final account submission.
  • Collaborate with site teams to ensure timely ordering of materials, aligned with procurement schedules.
  • Manage commercial and contractual relationships with Clients, Consultants, and Subcontractors.
  • Attend site progress and technical meetings, coordinating with the wider design team to ensure prompt completion of agreed actions.


What you'll need to succeed

  • A Degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong motivation and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A full, valid driving licence and access to your own car.
  • 2–4 years of post-graduate experience in quantity surveying.
