Maintenance Engineer - Days

Your new company

You will be working for a leading defence manufacturing company based in Stockport. They specialise in producing high-quality defence equipment and systems, ensuring operational reliability and performance.

Your new role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to support manufacturing maintenance performance and improve asset and equipment availability. You will adhere to the Agility Maintenance schedule, carrying out scheduled, planned, reactive, and preventative maintenance activities to support manufacturing equipment OEE.
Your duties will include:
  • Supporting the manufacturing asset/equipment weekly schedule.
  • Transitioning from reactive to planned preventative maintenance.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of manufacturing CNC equipment and tooling.
  • Maintaining and repairing PLC, Invertors, and Drives.
  • Analysing failure modes to create preventative maintenance regimes.
  • Recording accurate feedback on tasks completed.
  • Providing leadership and technical guidance during breakdowns or critical defects.
  • Establishing mean time between failure techniques and applying cost-effective mean time to repair methods.
  • Delivering robust reports from asset inspections and maintenance.
  • Contributing to PPS reports associated with significant downtime.
  • Supporting manufacturing production requirements and maximising production uptime.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Looking for 1 mechanically biased engineer and 1 electrically biased engineer
  • Recognised H&S training and competence.
  • Experience in a similar factory/fabrication maintenance environment.
  • CNC machine maintenance experience is beneficial but not essential (Haas, Matsuura, Unisign, DMG Mori).
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills using common techniques.
  • Experience in a modern lean manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing CNC equipment and tooling.
  • For the electrical candidate, in-depth knowledge of PLC, Invertors, and Drives.
  • Fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Practical knowledge of maintenance and machinery control systems.
  • Ability to assess and control SHE risks.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
