Senior UI Designer opportunity at University of the Arts London

The Senior UI Designer will play a leading role in the user interface design of our products and the evolution of our design system and accessibility standards. This role will be an active member of our design community in Digital and Technology, providing coaching and line management to other designers within the team.

You will lead the creation of UI design assets across UAL’s digital platforms, creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs. You will also evolve and maintain a shared digital design system, ensuring consistency, brand alignment and accessibility across our digital services, whilst providing efficiency and scalability to workflows.

This role will join a team of user experience, user interface designers and user researchers, and will collaborate closely with the product teams to align all UI design and research processes with our agile delivery process and advocate for a culture of continuous improvement.

In this recruitment round, we are seeking a Senior UI Designer to work across our Student Experience service teams as we focus on creating and enhancing a seamless and reliable digital experience. You will champion the evolution and implementation of easy-to-use principles, standards, and methodologies for UI design, ensuring they are adopted and developed over time. We welcome applications from experienced UI Designers who want to work for an organisation that is committed to social purpose and is growing to face new opportunities and challenges.

Experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge, experience, and passion for user-centred design, with strong expertise in UI design and proficiency in a range of tools (e.g. Figma and Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Experience creating and evolving a design system to ensure scalability, balancing speed with quality to deliver value quickly and effectively
  • Proven ability to translate research insights, user feedback, and data into actionable design solutions, ensuring a delightful end-to-end user journey and driving measurable improvements to the user experience
  • Exceptional storytelling, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, articulate design rationale, and bring user needs to life through compelling narratives and visual artefacts
  • Extensive experience applying design thinking across the full product lifecycle, and proactive in identifying and leading designs initiatives that enhance user experience.
  • Ability to mentor and coach designers and uphold high-quality design standards within teams.
