Finance Officer | Bolton | Temp - Maternity Cover | £27-£30k

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join a team in a public sector organisation in Bolton on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. This role will be a total of 9 months with the potential of leading to a permanent role for the right candidate. The successful candidate will support the Business Manager in delivering a professional, effective, and compliant finance service.
Your new role
You will provide financial and administrative support, manage and plan trips, including collecting monies and producing lists for trip leaders. You will request quotations and order transport for educational visits, sports fixtures, and early bus finishes. Communication with companies and handling enquiries from staff, suppliers, the local council, and other outside agencies will be part of your responsibilities. You will contribute to the planning, development, and organisation of support service systems, procedures, and policies. Processing orders, deliveries, and invoices from the delegated budget via FMS, ensuring compliance with 'Best Value' principles, managing stock of administrative items, and banking cash/cheques to the school fund account are also key duties. Additionally, you will provide personal, administrative, and organisational support to other staff, manage Live Register/Cashless Catering, administer the comms Finance module, and manage the Free School Meal system in liaison with the local council. Assisting with procurement procedures, monitoring and managing stock in the Finance office, ensuring financial records are retained for audit purposes, and obtaining and keeping records of BACS information for suppliers are also part of your role.

Complying with and assisting with the development of policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, health, safety, security, and GDPR is essential. Developing constructive relationships and communicating with other agencies and professionals will help you thrive. Qualifications are not required for this role but you will need similar experience in a finance role prior.
