Graduate Civil Engineer - Civil/Structural Design Consultancy

We are working on behalf of a leading civil design consultancy who have asked us to help attract & recruit an ambitious and skilled graduate civil engineer. Our client boasts a portfolio of civil/infrastructure projects that encompass but are not limited to the highways/structural/water-infra/commercial/rail/residential sectors.This position is designed to help you develop your skills and knowledge in civil engineering whilst contributing to a variety of projects.

Your new role

Guided by a team of highly experienced and vastly knowledgeable engineering experts, you will work in a supportive environment where you will receive guidance from experienced directors and a dedicated team of engineers and technicians. Successful candidates will benefit from education, training and mentoring support to enable them to work as a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). This qualification is globally recognised and signifies a mark of expertise. We are also committed to supporting your further professional development.

You will be tasked with undertaking the following on a day-to-day basis to develop your learning:

  • Design and development of infrastructure projects for the commercial, retail, residential and industrial sectors, including SUDS drainage systems, roads to adoptable standards
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals are met on time and to a high standard
  • Liaise with statutory bodies such as Southern Water, Local Authorities and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency
  • Carry out relevant technical analysis utilising design software and AutoCAD
  • Participate in design, project and site meetings and carry out site inspections.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate key information in a professional manner to offer advice and guidance on matters relating to your work.
  • Prepare, issue and manage technical project information, including calculations, drawings and models, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout all documentation.
  • Manage project tasks whilst adhering to agreed budgetary limits and timelines

What you'll need to succeed

As well as demonstrating a willingness to develop, you will be asked to demonstrate the following soft and hard skills to succeed:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge through work-based learning and self-study.
