Financial Accountant - Interim Job - Part Qualified - Fully Qualified - ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA - Finance Role

Job Summary:

The Closedown Accountant will be instrumental in managing the financial closing process, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and maintaining strict adherence to accounting standards and regulations. This role demands exceptional analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to perform under stringent deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of comprehensive financial statements and reports.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure the precision of financial data.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Support the chief accountant on compliance with IFRS16
  • Support the chief accountant with audit requirements
  • Be able to complete journals and understand double entries
  • Collaborate with various departments to collect and verify financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of budgets and forecasts.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of financial data and provide actionable insights to senior management.
  • Support external audits by furnishing required documentation and detailed explanations.
  • Continuously enhance and streamline the financial closing process.
  • Prior exposure of local government closing of accounts
Qualifications:

  • CIPFA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, with a focus on financial closing processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Unwavering attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
