1st Line Conduct Risk

1st Line Conduct Risk (SMCR)

We are seeking an experienced individual to join a leading financial institution on a contract basis (12 months). This role will be part of a dedicated team focused on managing front-line business controls and compliance programs that address non-financial risks across international operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting Conduct and Individual Accountability regimes, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage Regimes (e.g., SMCR, SEAR) across UK and international markets.
  • Act as the key contact for risk and control assessments, ensuring regulatory standards are met.
  • Support remediation efforts, including engagement in audit processes and issue management.
  • Oversee Conduct Management reporting for committees and legal entities.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on conduct requirements, policies, and regulatory updates.
  • Present on Conduct and Individual Accountability at senior-level meetings and committees.
  • Manage inquiries, escalations, and act as a primary point of contact within the team.
  • Ensure effective execution of controls and risk assessments within Conduct and Accountability frameworks.
  • Support the implementation of Corporate and Investment Banking Conduct and Culture Framework across international operations.

Skills & Requirements:
  • Extensive financial services experience within front-line or second-line risk management.
  • Strong expertise in Conduct Risk and other compliance-related areas.
  • Degree-level education preferred.
  • Highly organized with demonstrable project management skills.
  • Strong ethical standards with high discretion in handling confidential matters.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to engage with oversight functions (first, second, and third line).
  • Analytical thinker with a strong ability to apply critical judgment.
  • Ability to keep up to date with regulatory developments affecting conduct and accountability regimes.
