Your new role
An esteemed organisation is seeking a highly skilled Project Buyer to join its dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting the bid and sales teams with cost information for new business proposals, ensuring the successful delivery of key projects through effective procurement of subcontracts and equipment.

The Project Buyer will collaborate within a cross-functional team, including Procurement, Sales and Bid Team, Engineering, Quality, Legal, and others as required, to lead supplier selection and contract awards. Close support will be provided to the Bid Team in preparing cost information for proposal submissions to prospective clients. Additionally, the Project Buyer will assist operations teams during the delivery phase of projects, conducting tender analysis and defining selection criteria using the Supplier Evaluation Matrix.

Developing and implementing negotiation strategies to achieve optimal results is a key aspect of this role. The Project Buyer will create and manage Procurement Plans and strategies for major projects, review subcontracts with legal support, and manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Ensuring their performance meets project deliverables in terms of time, quality, and costs is crucial. The role also involves strict adherence to compliance requirements and leading its application across various departments, tracking contract commitments, managing Change Orders, monitoring KPIs, and analysing capital and revenue options to lead the decision-making process.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a senior purchasing role, ideally within a project environment. Knowledge of procurement systems and various forms of contracts (NEC3, MF1, ICHEME, amongst others) is essential. Expertise in plant and equipment management and purchasing, strong skills in change management and continuous improvement, and experience working in a project team under pressure to deliver against programme and budget constraints are required. Membership of an appropriate professional body is essential, and a professional or postgraduate qualification in Purchasing or Management is highly desirable.

What you'll get in return
The role comes with a highly competitive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 per annum and an excellent benefits package.

Flexible and hybrid working will be on offer, and you will have a great opportunity to further develop your career.
