Research / Senior Scientist | Target Validation | Slough | 12-Month Contract

A leading global biopharmaceutical company is seeking a Research or Senior Scientist who is highly motivated and innovative to join their Target Validation and Tractability team. Join a diverse team dedicated to discovering, validating, and understanding the mechanisms of new drug targets for diseases with significant unmet patient needs. This role is lab-based and requires strong laboratory skills, especially in cell biology and assay techniques.#

Your new role

  • Investigate immunological disease pathways and biology to uncover new therapeutic opportunities in areas with unmet needs.
  • Establish and manage collaborations with leading researchers focused on autoimmune-related biological pathways and disease models to identify new disease-drug target connections.
  • Conduct drug tractability and validation experiments, including Gain of Function/Loss of Function assays, cell culture, flow cytometry, imaging, and other techniques.
  • Enhance the department’s technological and scientific expertise by advancing target-to-disease translational insights, implementing novel technologies, improving workflows, and fostering robust scientific discussions.
  • Present data and insights both within the organisation and externally.
  • Produce detailed experimental write-ups and assist in compiling procedures, guidelines, and reports.
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation in a matrix structure to integrate new targets into the research portfolio.

What you'll need to succeed

  • B.Sc. (or equivalent) with over 2 years of industry experience, or a PhD/post-doc.
  • Background in immunology or related fields.
  • Proficiency in bioinformatic tools for visualising and analysing large datasets.
  • Basic coding skills.
  • Experience in various cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as Cell Culture, Flow Cytometry, High content imaging, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA or MSD, Western blotting, qPCR, Transfection/siRNA/CRISPR gene-editing
  • Experience in generating and analysing ‘-omic’ datasets is essential.
  • Basic coding skills are a plus.
