ALN Teaching Assistant Role in Cardiff

Hays are recruiting a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant in Cardiff for a Special Educational Needs School which caters for pupils aged 4-11 with a variety of additional learning needs. This role will involve working with small groups of children with a variety of additional needs, as well as some related behavioural issues. The school is made up of a supportive and passionate teaching team, where the staff are eager to welcome new members to the team. Through the support of the staff, students can thrive and enjoy their education to the highest degree possible. The school believes in providing a level and equal playing field for all. By creating and maintaining a positive learning environment, the school can help its students grow into kind and inquisitive young people.
Your new role.
The role is confirmed long-term for a January start, working 5 days a week. Additionally, there are similar positions within this school and a sister school with immediate start dates. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:
- Working with small groups of students who possess additional learning needs and some elements of challenging behaviour.
- Demonstrating high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
- Creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
- Assisting teachers as they implement their lesson plans.
- Working closely as part of a team with other members of teaching staff.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience over the course of the last 2 – 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include enthusiasm, calmness, dedication, patience, and the ability to solve problems effectively when working under pressure.
