SEND Teaching Assistant - SEN Primary School in Tameside

Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, temporary with the potential to become permanent

Hays Education is excited to announce an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant at a highly regarded SEN primary school in Tameside. We are recruiting on behalf of a nurturing and inclusive environment dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning activities.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Support pupils with physical, emotional, and behavioural needs, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor pupil progress.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting the development of social skills and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to provide comprehensive support for pupils.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools).
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
