Team Leader (Night Shift)

Your new company


This role will positively contribute to the success of a distribution warehouse in Swansea, through demonstrable commitment to, and delivery of, its mission and values. The Team Leader ensures that all responsibilities and workloads within their department are managed and delivered to established service levels through effective utilisation and management of available resources. Responsibilities also include cost efficiency, continuous improvement of processes, service, and health and safety.


Your new role


  • First line daily operational responsibility for your team’s workload, which should be discussed and delegated with the Section Leader(s)

  • Building your team’s abilities so they are able to influence and change processes and systems to ensure a sustainable and cost-effective operation.

  • Engage all the team members in identifying potential improvements in themselves and the department. This includes leading on these activities and ensuring completion through engagement and participation with relevant teams.

  • Manage performance of the team, including identification of the training and development requirements, and implement these requirements to ensure continuous development.

  • Adhering to, and implementing, all company policies as outlined in the Company handbook

  • Ensuring individual, team and site health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to and given a high priority

  • To regularly deputise in the Senior Team Leader’s absence, within parameters agreed by them, and take accountability for the performance of the department during these times

  • To undertake regular training, which is applicable to the duties of a Team Leader, in order to strive to improve the performance in the role


What you'll need to succeed


  • Acceptable level of education or training: satisfactory passes in GCSE/CSE Maths and English minimum;

  • IOSH Health and Safety Certification

  • Experience of managing 5+ people

  • Proven working knowledge of warehouse processes and procedures

  • Good working knowledge of PC/Database Systems such as Warehouse Management Systems and Microsoft Office

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring and training skills

  • Be able to build and maintain relationships at all levels

  • A keen appreciation of customer requirements
